How a Morning Routine Changed My Life

I would wake up feeling behind. Snooze the alarm 20x. Check my phone for 30 minutes. Rush to get ready. Run out the door (and most likely miss my train to work). I started fighting in my head with my boss before I even entered the building.

And before I knew it, the day had started without me being present.

I was in the past and the future, and rushing through the now.

So many of us wake up and immediately step into someone else’s world, someone else’s plans, someone else’s needs, and someone else’s energy.

We start the day reacting instead of choosing.

Creating a morning routine changed my life because it helped me stop waking up in reaction mode and start choosing my energy before the day began.

And no, my morning routine did not magically make every day perfect. But it did help me feel more grounded. More connected. More intentional. More like myself.

It was about being intentional with my morning.

Why Your Morning Routine Matters

Let’s be honest: the way you start your morning can set the tone for your entire day.

When you start your day rushing, you are diving straight into the world’s plans, problems, and priorities before you have had a chance to check in with yourself. You haven’t taken time to decide what you want your day to look like. You haven’t asked yourself how you want to feel. You haven’t given your mind, body, or soul anything supportive yet.

And when the first part of your day is filled with stress, urgency, and overwhelm, it can make it so much harder to shift back into a positive mindset.

We have all had those mornings.

You snooze your alarm one too many times. You rush to your first call. You open your inbox and there are 200 emails waiting. You start answering messages, and suddenly it is 11 a.m. and you have not even had coffee. Then one more problem lands in your lap, and now your whole nervous system is in chaos.

That energy follows you.

But when you create an intentional morning routine, you give yourself a different foundation.

You wake up. You breathe. You take a few minutes for yourself. You decide what kind of energy you want to bring into the day.

Instead of letting the day happen to you, you start creating the feeling that life is happening for you.

That shift alone can change everything.

What My Morning Routine Looks Like

One of the biggest things I want you to know is this: Your morning routine does not have to be complicated.

It does not need to be two hours long. It does not need to look aesthetic. It does not need to include every wellness trend you have ever seen online. It does not mean you need to make up at 5:00 am to get it done.

It just needs to support you.

For me, my morning routine includes (pre-becoming a parent):

  • a 10-minute meditation

  • 5 minutes of journaling

  • EFT tapping

  • taking my vitamins

  • a 5-minute stretch to wake up my body

If this feels like too much, you just want to do something for your mind, body and soul before you dive into your day. That could take 10 minutes or an hour. You get to decide what works with your lifestyle.

A morning routine is not about becoming the most productive version of yourself before 8 a.m. It is about becoming the most connected version of yourself before the day starts asking things from you.

Something for your mind could be journaling, reading a few pages of a book, listening to a podcast, writing your intentions for the day, or choosing one thought you want to focus on.

Something for your body could be stretching, drinking water, taking your vitamins, going for a walk, making a nourishing breakfast, or simply standing in the sun for a few minutes.

Something for your soul could be meditation, prayer, EFT tapping, pulling an oracle card, using essential oils, or sitting quietly with your coffee before reaching for your phone.

How to Create a Morning Routine You’ll Actually Stick To

If you are ready to create your own morning routine, start simple.

Do not build a routine based on what someone else is doing. Build one based on what you need.

Ask yourself:

  1. What helps me recharge my energy?

  2. What can I realistically do every morning to feel good?

  3. What is one thing I can do for my soul?

  4. What is one thing I can do for my mind?

  5. What is one thing I can do for my body?

  6. Where am I being really hard on myself, and how can I be kinder to myself in the morning?

  7. What time am I committing to my morning routine each day?

Once you choose your morning routine, commit to it for 21 days.

Your Morning Routine Is About More Than Your Morning

A morning routine is not just about what you do after your alarm goes off.

It is about how you want to feel in your life.

Do you want to feel rushed, scattered, and last on your own list?

Or do you want to feel grounded, clear, supported, and connected to the woman you are becoming?

This is why morning routines are so connected to manifestation and personal growth. They help you align your energy before you move into action. They help you create space for clarity. They remind you that you are not powerless in your life.

You get to choose your energy.

You get to choose how you show up.

You get to choose to make yourself a priority.

And this is exactly the kind of shift we explore inside Good Vibes.
